Graco Recalls Thousands Of Child Safety Seats

Graco Recall Child Safety Seat

Major child safety manufacturer, Graco is recalling more than 25,000 car seats this month after the My Ride 65 car seat restraints failed to meet Federal Motor Vehicle safety standards. (Safety Standard #213). Children who are not appropriately restrained have an increased risk of death or injury in the event of a crash.

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration found that the webbing in the seat restraints did not meet requirements for breaking strength. Graco traced the problem to a single batch of webbing and is pulling the My Ride 65 convertible seats with model numbers 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334. These seats were made from May through June, 2014. The Tag on the webbing should read 2014/06

Graco has always put safety as their top priority, and company will notify owners, and dealers and will provide Replacement harnesses free of charge starting on July 17. They ask that if your model meets the recall requirement, go to www.gracobaby.com/myride-harness-recall/ to order a free replacement kit or contact Graco consumer services at 1-800-345-4109. While customers wait for a replacement kit, they may continue to use the restraints provided. To date, there have been no reported injuries.
