Wrong Way Driving Kills

Early Wednesday Harold Wilson Martinez, thirty-six years old, was driving the wrong-way to north on the southbound exit ramp at 5:13 a.m. He was driving a black 2012 Hyundai Sonata and crashed into the car of Cesar Gerardo Nunez, fifty-six years old. The third driver who was involved in the crash was Cassell, first-year Broward college student.

Martinez, father of three children, died one minute after the crash and Nunez was held in the intensive care unit at Broward Health North on Thursday. Fortunately, Cassell was not seriously injured. “It was pretty scary”, said Cassell. He told that he was headed south on Sawgrass when the accident happened. He tried to avoid crashing with the car but collided with the car in front of him and his vehicle lost control, hitting the palm trees.

Martinez has series of record of being in trouble with the law. He was arrested several times for crimes in the last fifteen years, which include battery, grand theft, probation violation and drug possession. In addition, Martinez was stopped in several counties of Florida in the year 2010 and 2013 for few infractions such as two speeding charges according to Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles records. Martinez also had his license suspended several times since the year 2000.

According to the Sun-sentinel, the investigation is still ongoing as investigators wait for the results of autopsy and toxicology reports.
