Staying Safe in Fort Pierce
We strongly urge residents and visitors to exercise caution when navigating Fort Pierce, not only because Port St. Lucie and Stuart have the highest rates for motor vehicle accidents in the county, but because I-95, which runs through Fort Pierce, experiences a significant number of traffic accidents. Residents and visitors traveling through Melbourne should also take caution when traveling Sr-518, as this area is also prone to car accidents.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ 2015 Annual Report, of the 16 million licensed drivers in Florida, approximately 374,000 car crashes took place in the state, resulting in nearly 3,000 deaths.
Car crash victims can suffer debilitating injuries, including, but not limited to, sciatica, back pain, concussion, knee pain, shoulder pain, joint pain, and traumatic brain injury.
Parents who take their children to some of Fort Pierce’s premier events and locations should also be cautious of slip/trip and fall areas. Additionally, as Florida is a prime location for boating accidents, we urge extreme caution when allowing children to enter the water.
