Naples cases our attorneys have handled:

History of Naples, Florida

Founded in the late 1880s by US Senator John Stuart Williams (D-KY) and Walter N. Haldeman—a publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal—the City of Naples began as a remote destination accessible only by watercraft. Rave reviews circulated in regional papers that favorably characterized the alluring climate and premier hunting and fishing grounds, setting the stage for a modest tourism industry. In the years that followed, Naples blossomed into a beautiful oasis that rivaled its Italian counterpart.

Much of the city’s anticipated land development did not begin until after the Great Depression and World War II, despite the creation of new rail lines and trails, such as the Tamiami Trail financed by Barron Collier, that linked the city to other major areas.
It was not until 1945 when a hurricane devastated the area that Naples experienced another significant boom. Forrest Walker & Sons dredged out the mangrove swamps, which led to the development of upscale, waterfront residential communities, including Aqualane Shores, Port Royal, and The Moorings.

Growth slowed when the eye of Hurricane Donna passed over the city in 1960, causing massive destruction to major landmarks. (The Naples Pier, built by Haldeman and Williams’ The Naples Company, was among the wreckage.) However, progress resumed, and Collier County became the fastest growing county in the United States.

Today, the City of Naples is one of the wealthiest cities in the country, with the sixth highest per capita income and second highest proportion of millionaires per capita.

Things to Do in Naples

Activities abound in Naples’ historic downtown, with Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South serving as major dining, shopping, and entertainment centers. Art and history aficionados can check out the city’s art galleries and museums, while nature lovers can take to the beach, nearby trails, city zoo, or visit the Naples Botanical Garden. Residents and visitors can end their day with good food, good drinks, and good company at one of the many premier dining establishments with waterfront views. Don’t miss the Big Cypress Market Place with 100 diverse vendors!

The city is also home to more than several major land reserves, 80 golf courses (many of them in gated communities), annual automobile shows, the Naples Half Marathon, the Oliver Group Champions Cup, the Outback Champions Tennis Series, and swamp buggy races.

Have a keen interest for the performing arts? Be sure to check out the Naples Shakespeare Festival, Opera Naples, and Naples Philharmonic.

Don’t fret about getting around. Naples is served by several bus routes operated by the Collier Area Transit, which runs weeklong.

Staying Safe in Naples

It’s no doubt Naples is among Florida’s most treasured cities. While opportunity for adventure is boundless, the potential for personal injury is ever-present. Naples’ two primary commercial districts, Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, are major tourist destinations, which makes observing local road laws absolutely paramount.

The personal injury attorneys at the Shiner Law Group urge residents and visitors to exercise caution when traveling through Naples’ historic downtown. Accidents on commercial or public property can lead to debilitating and sometimes fatal injuries, such as sciatica, back pain, concussion, knee pain, shoulder pain, joint pain, and traumatic brain injury, all of which can lead to extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation, as well as long periods of disability or even a permanent inability to engage in gainful employment.

In the event you or a loved have been wrongfully injured due to the carelessness or negligence of another, the seasoned personal injury attorneys at the Shiner Law Group are standing by to discuss your legal options in a free consultation. Don’t let your experience in one of Florida’s most beautiful cities be ruined by the ongoing stress of an insurance claim. Let us focus on the legal complexities so you can focus on recovery.

Testimonials

5 / 5 stars
I can't say enough about not only the attorneys handling the case, I'd like to include the staff. Too often, it seems people get lost in the shuffle when dealing with unpleasant issues, such as a motor vehicle accident. I was hit by a vehicle without insurance, and thought all was lost. In addition to getting my medical bills negotiated down to a level that were able to be paid by my small policy, they did so with an amount of recovery I didn't expect. All the while, everyone involved were very attentive and most important.....very nice. That goes a long way in what otherwise is a very stressful event. I can't imagine I'd send a referral to anyone else.
