Melissa D. Dwyer, Esq.
mdwyer@shinerlawgroup.com
Throughout her time representing insurance carriers, negligent drivers, and healthcare professionals, Melissa developed a strong understanding of how the defense side evaluates claims. This insight is now a valuable asset to the injured clients she serves, allowing her to anticipate insurance tactics and strategically advocate for full and fair compensation in both bodily injury and property damage cases.
Melissa earned her undergraduate degree in pre-medical sciences from Florida Atlantic University after graduating from Cardinal Newman High School. Before attending law school, she dedicated time to charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior Project, Soldier’s Angels, and the Caridad Center in Boynton Beach. Her outstanding volunteer work earned her the 2008 Heroes in Medicine Award from the Palm Beach County Medical Society.
At Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, Melissa distinguished herself through academic excellence and extracurricular leadership. She was an active member of the Nova Trial Association Honor Society, where she secured first place in a competitive in-house trial competition. Melissa also achieved top rankings in courses including Ethics, Professionalism, and Constitutional Law, and participated in the law school’s Personal Injury Clinic to gain hands-on experience in tort litigation.
Today, Melissa focuses her practice on personal injury and wrongful death cases, including car accidents, motorcycle crashes, rideshare (Uber/Lyft) claims, slip and fall incidents, premises liability, and defective product injuries. She handles both pre-litigation and litigation matters and is committed to fighting for those harmed due to the negligence of others. She is a member of the Florida Bar, Palm Beach County Justice Association, Palm Beach County Hispanic Bar Association, the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, and the Palm Beach Bar Association. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court for Northern District of Florida.
Melissa resides in South Florida with her husband, a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, their two sons, and the family dog. Her strong family values and cultural background contribute to her compassionate, yet aggressive approach to advocating for her clients.
