Stratton A. Smiley, Esq.

In 2014, Mr. Smiley earned his Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. During law school, Mr. Smiley was a Goodwin Scholarship recipient, made the Dean’s List every semester, earned the highest grade in twelve classes, and graduated first in his class. In addition, he served as an Articles Editor on Nova Law Review, the law school’s top academic journal. Finally, Mr. Smiley earned the Student Bar Association Award for Academic Excellence, ALI-ABA Scholarship and Leadership Award, Goodwin Editor Award, and American Bankruptcy Institute Award.

Upon graduating, Mr. Smiley passed the Florida Bar Exam with one of the highest scores in the state and was the speaker on behalf of the newly admitted attorneys at the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal’s induction ceremony.

Prior to joining Shiner Law Group as an attorney, Mr. Smiley was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Melanie G. May of Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal. In Mr. Smiley’s two years as a judicial law clerk, he prepared bench memoranda on a wide variety of civil and criminal appellate cases. He also provided recommendations to the judges on various substantive and procedural issues. Before clerking, Mr. Smiley worked as a torts and legal writing teaching assistant for two law school professors, and interned at a large Florida law firm and the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court.

Mr. Smiley is a member of the Florida Bar and is also licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Currently, Mr. Smiley focuses his practice at Shiner Law Group on civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury. He also serves as the firm’s Chief Legal Officer.

Mr. Smiley enjoys working at Shiner Law Group because of its family atmosphere and the resources it provides that allows him to deliver exceptional legal representation to each client.
